Privacy, terms & accessibility.
Short, in plain English, and accurate about what this website does and does not do with your information.
The short version. This website does not use tracking cookies, does not run advertising, does not sell anything, and does not send your information to third parties. Everything you type into the tools and worksheets stays inside your own browser.
Privacy
What this website collects
Nothing about you personally, unless you choose to send it. There are no analytics scripts, no advertising pixels, no social-media trackers and no cookies set by this site.
The interactive tools
The breathing timer, grounding walkthrough, mood tracker, journal, gratitude jar, thought record, values compass, worry window, games and worksheets all run entirely in your browser. When you choose to save something, it is written to your device’s own local storage. It is never transmitted to this website, to Dr. Duffin, or to anyone else.
Practical consequences worth knowing:
- Anything you save is visible to anyone else who uses that browser profile on that device.
- Clearing your browser data, or using a private window, deletes it.
- It does not sync between your phone and your computer.
- Every tool that saves anything has a button to delete it.
If you are using a shared or work computer and would rather leave no trace, use a private browsing window.
The blog feed
The articles shown on this site are read directly from the WordPress journal at drdonnaduffin.com. When your browser fetches them it makes an ordinary web request to that server, which — like any web server — may record standard technical information such as an IP address and browser type in its logs.
Embedded videos
The videos page embeds talks hosted by TED. When a video loads or plays, TED receives the technical information any video host receives, governed by TED’s own privacy policy rather than this one. If you would rather not, use the direct links instead of pressing play.
Fonts and assets
All fonts, images, stylesheets and scripts are served from this website itself. There is no content delivery network and no third-party font service, so nothing about your visit is disclosed to an outside provider by loading the page.
Contact messages
The contact form composes an email in your own mail application. Nothing is stored on this website. Email is convenient but it is not a secure medical channel — please keep initial messages brief and avoid sensitive clinical detail until we are speaking directly.
Messages you do send are read by Dr. Duffin, kept confidentially, and used only to respond to your enquiry.
Clinical records
This privacy note covers the website only. If you become a patient, your clinical records are governed by federal health-privacy law, Florida law and the practice’s own Notice of Privacy Practices, which is provided to you before your first appointment.
Children
This website is intended for adults. It is not directed at children under 13 and collects no information from anyone. Adolescent patients are seen with the involvement of a parent or guardian.
Terms of use
This is education, not treatment
Everything on this website — articles, tips, tools, games, guided practices, worksheets and reading lists — is general education. It is not medical advice, it does not diagnose anything, and it is not a substitute for assessment or treatment by a qualified professional who knows your situation.
Reading this site, using its tools, or sending a message does not create a therapist–patient relationship. That begins only when you and Dr. Duffin have agreed to work together and the necessary consent paperwork is in place.
Not for emergencies
This website and its email address are not monitored around the clock and cannot respond to emergencies. If you are in danger, call 911. If you are in crisis, call or text 988, or text HOME to 741741. All crisis resources are listed here.
The self-assessment tools
The wellbeing check-in and sleep reflection are reflective exercises. They are not validated screening instruments, they produce no score of clinical meaning, and no result from them should be treated as a diagnosis or as a reason to delay seeking care.
External links
Links to other organisations were checked when this site was built and are offered in good faith. Their content is theirs, not ours, and a link is not an endorsement of everything they publish. Please tell us if you find one that is broken or has changed.
Copyright
The writing, artwork, tools, guided practice scripts and worksheets on this site are original work © Dr. Donna Duffin, Psy.D. You are warmly welcome to print the worksheets and scripts for your own personal use, and clinicians may use them with their own patients with attribution. Please do not republish them commercially without permission.
Accessibility
This site was built to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at level AA, and specifically:
- Every interactive element is reachable and operable by keyboard alone, with a clearly visible focus indicator.
- Text and interface colours meet or exceed AA contrast ratios in both the light and the dark reading modes.
- All animation, including the breathing circle and the scroll effects, is disabled automatically when your system is set to reduce motion.
- Every page works without JavaScript: the navigation, the articles and all written content remain fully available, and only the timers and interactive tools require it.
- Images that carry meaning have text alternatives; decorative artwork is hidden from screen readers rather than described pointlessly.
- Text can be enlarged to 200% without loss of content or function.
- A dark reading mode is available from the moon icon in the header, and the site also follows your system preference automatically.
Accessibility is never finished. If any part of this site is difficult for you to use, please write to DrDonnaDuffin@gmail.com — describing what went wrong and what you were using — and it will be fixed.
Changes to this page
If these terms change materially, the change will be described here. Continued use of the website after a change means you accept the revised terms.
